“You have him in the right spot! Now make him take that shot!”

Coach Pete Pena roared across the court to the Pirate’s Denzel Richardson, during the Saturday, Jan. 19 game at the Lou Ross Center against Tallahassee Community College. It was the Pirate’s  fourth conference game this season.

The Pirates took to the court ready to win and that’s exactly what they did.

Opening the game with slam dunk, Qiydor Davis lead the team as they cruised a 14-2 lead only six minutes into the game. The crowd was bursting with enthusiasm as the first half came to an end, watching their home team lead 40-27.

PSC came out of locker room for the second half ready to complete their unfinished business with TCC. The half opened with another slam dunk by Denzel Richardson, a freshman from Baltimore.

Things got intense when TCC’s Trevor McDade threw a punch at PSC’s DeAngelo Kirkland that created tension on and off the court. Resulting in a TCC penalty, DeAngelo Kirkland put two more points on the scoreboard for PSC increasing the lead.

With 5:22 left in the game, the Pirates still had a 10-point lead, as they had consistently throughout the game.

PSC grasped their conference win, defeating the Eagles 76-63.

“We definitely played well this game. We had some technical errors that kept us on our toes, and in the end we fixed them and came out with a win,” Coach Pena said following the game. “We have gotten tougher since the last time we played and I think that is an important key to our game.”

PSC will battle North West Florida State College Jan. 30 at home seeking another conference win.
