The Pirates basketball team suffered its second loss in conference play Saturday to Gulf Coast Community College 86-74.  The team is off to a 17-5 start overall this season and 2-2 in conference play.

On Jan. 7, the Pirates played Okaloosa Walton Community College in the Lou Ross Center and won 73-65. 

Alfonso Burnett led the charge by scoring 20 points, dishing out six assists, and four steals.  Steve Proctor put in 14, and Brandon Gordon added 11 points, eight boards, and three blocks. The Pirates traveled Jan. 10 to Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee.  The Pirates kept up their winning ways by defeating TCC 87-80 in four overtimes. 

Burnett led all scorers by pouring in 25 points and he also played all but three and one-half minutes of the 60 minute game.  Proctor put in 17 points and Gordon added 14.

On Jan. 14, the Pirates played host to Chipola Community College at the Lou Ross Center.  The Pirates fell victim as they lost 84-54. 

Gordon led the Pirates offensively in the losing effort by scoring 21 points.

The Pirates’ next game is on Jan. 17 at Gulf Coast Community College, and the next home game is on the 28th with Tallahassee Community College.
