“Thank you… Alright, you’re ruining the show. Thank you for clapping at what my parents are ashamed of,” said Daniel Tosh, a preacher’s son, as he walked onto the stage during his successful tour in 2010.
Tosh, a comedian named one of the “10 Comics to Watch” in 2005 by Variety Magazine has had whirlwind success over the past few years. A graduate of University of Central Florida, the funny man is set to begin his second tour on March 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tosh is coming to Pensacola April 9, performing two shows for his faithful fans at the Saenger Theatre, downtown on Palafox Place.
Tosh’s first tour, Tosh Tour Twenty Ten was a complete hit. He performed more than 75 shows and profited a cool $10 million at the box office.
Touring isn’t all that he does; he is the host of the acclaimed Comedy Central show “Tosh.0”. The comedian also frequents Twitter and has more than 4.7 million followers whom he talks about and interacts with on the show.
Tosh.0, the 30-minute television show that primarily focuses on Tosh’s wicked humor and all the embarrassing viral videos on the internet is currently in its fourth season and is not looking to slow down anytime soon.
Sherilyn Sperling, a recent PSC graduate, has been watching Tosh.0 for two years and can’t seem to get enough of Daniel Tosh, saying “I hardly watch TV so when I do and it’s on, I’ll watch.”
But what is it about Tosh that people of the country, including Pensacola, can’t get enough of?
“He is brutally honest and it’s hilarious. He’s very clever and witty. It’s entertaining,” said Rease Allen, an accounting sophomore.
Tickets for both of his Pensacola show times sold out in minutes.
“By 10:15 a.m. they were sold out. My friend and I tried, literally all day. We heard about the second show right when they announced it and called immediately. That was around 4 p.m.” said Sperling, a lucky student who managed to get her hands on tickets.
This is Tosh’s first time performing in Pensacola and who knows what to expect upon his arrival.
Alabama fans beware; Tosh is not a fan of Nick Saban and is notorious for voicing his opinion on the subject, as any good comedian would.
