The election is over. The votes are in. Realistically, we do not know what America’s future holds. The idea of the unknown can be terrifying. One of Florida’s most controversial and important amendments this year was Amendment 4, which determined the right to abortion past the current six week law in Florida.
Sail Pensacola, a local organization, is hosting the North American expansion of Foiling Week to the United States on the stage of Pensacola, Florida. This will be the biggest sailing regatta we have seen. It will go from February 24 through March 2, 2025.
Pensacola’s 64th Annual Greek Festival took place during the first 3 days of November and, like every year, it went wonderfully. The festival is presented by the Greek Orthodox Church, taking place on its campus over on West Garden Street. The festival includes food, vendors, dancing, and music.
September 20th–The final whistle blew on a warm September afternoon to cap a dominant 3-0 display for the Pirates against the Southern Union State Bisons. The game’s first half was balanced, with both teams creating chances and exchanging possessions. However, the Pirates proved too much for the Bisons to handle in the second half as the Pirates steadily held possession at the opponent’s half and started to convert their chances.
For 89 years, the Pensacola Interstate Fair has entertained and brought joy to all who have attended it. Despite the long runtime of the fair, few seem to know about the intricate history of this long-running icon. With the fair right around the corner, why not discuss its history?
As this year’s presidential election is weighing heavy on the nation’s minds, local propositions and elections are often being pushed aside and neglected. But it is vital to consider our local government as well. On this year’s ballot, Floridians will get the chance to vote on six proposed constitutional amendments: partisan school board elections, a state constitutional right to hunt and fish, recreational marijuana legalization, right to abortion, homestead exemption inflation adjustment, and repeal of public campaign financing.
School work, jobs, and personal matters that feel like more work–the load we get as students, plus the extras of life, make it easy for stress and burnout to set on us. And when that happens, our performance in school and sometimes even our personal lives can suffer. To ease some stress or lighten the burden, the college has programs and resources to help PSC students.
The fear, the tendency to stay away, or if you tried it and did not stick with it, the unbearable aspect of budgeting stems from the common misconception that budgeting acts as a restraint. It may feel like a roadblock between your money and a well-deserved expensive dinner, or perhaps a restriction that prevents you from getting the latest game or book you have been waiting for. To begin, you must understand that budgeting is not meant to act like a chain that restrains you from spending your money and enjoying it. Rather, it is meant to give you freedom that is within your means.
The Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts on the Pensacola campus is always displaying new art in their galleries, whether from students, faculty, or visiting artists. The newest exhibition, No Sleep Till Branded, represents art showcasing a collective of eight PSC student portfolios.
When you first enter the Pensacola State College Planetarium, you almost feel a sense of serenity when entering such a grandiose place. Everyone who enters the Planetarium is there to connect to something bigger than ourselves and to understand the nature of our existence. Ironically, it’s strangely calming to be in a place where all your earthly worries are removed, as you look up at projections of the universe.
