A dessert every once in a while is a great thing to cheer you up. It can be a reward, a surprise, or anything in between bringing joy to yourself or someone else you care about. Each person has their own taste and interest. That’s what makes the world of sweet treats so interesting; there is something for everyone no matter what. The staff of the Corsair have gathered their favorite spot for baked goods for you to learn about, discover, and explore.

Arren Joseph-White, Editor-in-Chief: Chrisoula’s Cheesecake Shoppe

Locally owned and operated since 2007, Chrisoula’s is a place that prides themselves on creative flavors and hand-crafted goods. Owned by a native Greek family, Chrisoula’s is a place of passion and familial connection. They are located at 236 W Garden St in Suite 2a.

Abigail Hrabar, Copy Editor: Craft Gourmet Bakery

Over on 5555 N Davis Hwy in the strip mall, Craft Bakery prides itself on hard work, passion, and integrity to its art. While they call themselves a bakery, they also provide coffee and even an array of gelato flavors. Their variety and attention to detail is what makes them so recognizable in town. Their passion for their art and love for their craft is what makes them stand out, bringing back customers over and over.

On 120 Palafox Pl, Parlor Doughnuts is a chain that makes sure to cater to everyone. They offer vegan, gluten-free, and keto friendly options. And with their dog-friendly donuts, there are even options for the furry friend you might want to bring downtown. They are also known for their layered donuts with unique flavors such as maple bacon, turtle cheesecake, and strawberry pistachio.

With new owners Steve and Lisa Wright just three months ago, Maynard’s is a donut shop with bright ideas and big plans. Their intentions are to bring a family-friendly atmosphere with hand-made creations. Their rotating donut flavors, pleasant coffee, and frozen treats make this a popular spot in town. Maynard’s Donuts are found on the strip mall at 875 E 9 Mile Rd in store #9.

Luke Tarnosky, Writer: J’s Bakery 

A well-known spot in Pensacola’s community that has been able to change with the city since opening in 1946. Found in East Hill at 2014 N 12th Ave, J’s is known mostly for its creative cakes. Not only that, but their variety of traditional pastries and cookies bring delight. They have been trusted by Pensacola families for cakes of all special occasions.

Pensacola’s location is at 501 E Gregory St, ranging from one to about 600 locations in the United States. Many praise the cake shop for their soft and moist cakes. They often have their staple flavors, such as chocolate or red velvet, but often include rotating flavors for holidays and seasons. To go with their cakes, they also provide decor for any occasion. From full size to mini bundt cakes, they have been able to make a name for themselves with fresh ingredients and good flavors.

Over in Milton, specifically at 6727 Caroline St, Milton Quality Bakery is a family-owned establishment. Iconic in its name, the bakery considers itself as a full-service bakery; arranging from pastries to donuts and everything in between. Locals and visitors admire them for reasonable prices and convenient space. Milton Quality Bakery tries its best to cater to everyone.
