Two Tribes Games
Another independent game studio has released a three-pack of its offerings on Steam, the game delivery service of which I’ve sung praises in the past. The name of this group brings to mind a song by the 80s new wave band, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and while they claimed that when two tribes go to war, a point is all you could score, this extremely talented group of game developers hope that you’ll be able to score much more than that with these excellent games!
The first offering on their Two Tribes Pack, being offered for $14 on Steam, is Edge, most recently released, in fact! This port of an iOS title (for iPods, iPhones and iPads) challenges you to maneuver, in short order, a green cube around a similarly retro-styled, cubist world full of moving platforms, climbable surfaces and buttons that do unexpected things to said world. There are, as with all games in this pack, leaderboards which challenge you to compete for the fastest times among your friends and among the worldwide Steam community!
The next listed offering is RUSH, a game that also involves maneuvering of cubes, this time laying down arrows and conveyors to alter the directions of the cubes’ movements. You must take care that no cube collides with another or falls off the board, and that all get to their assigned (color-coded) home spots. Levels range from simple, planar affairs to full 3D mindbenders that will challenge your synapses!
The last game in this series is Toki Tori, a cute little game that breaks away from the cube nature of the previous titles by putting you in command of a bird! That’s right, Toki Tori wants to collect all the eggs on each level, and he has a few interesting abilities (in limited number) to help him do that. He may build bridges across gaps, or warp through walls or over said gaps, or several more methods that aid his goals. He must also avoid rather prickly and vicious enemies in his way, though if by any means he gets stuck, he may simply rewind the action and start over!
These three games will definitely provide lots of replay value as you strive to be the best you can be! Five out of five for all!
