Northwest Florida artists are invited to enter the Eighteenth Annual Cinco Banderas (Five Flags) Collection Competition, a unique and permanent body of work established through the Arts Council of Northwest Florida and consisting exclusively of regionally produced art.
Works are added to the collection by means of this annual juried competition scheduled for Oct. 23-25. Artists may drop off work Monday, Oct. 23, from 1 – 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Each applicant may submit up to two pieces of art for one entry fee. Entry fees are $15 for Artel members and $20 for non-members.
The juror will be looking for works of high artistic quality, competence in execution, and a strong personal vision. All works must be for sale. While open to all media, due to the nature of the collection, installations and video works are discouraged. Juror for the competition is Jerry Johnson, Chair of the Department of Art and Design at Troy University, Alabama.
An opening reception, catered by Varona’s, will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Artel Gallery, 505 South Adams Street. Purchase awards and juror’s awards will be announced at that time.
For more information or a detailed call for entries, call (850) 432-3080 or visit artelgallery.org or the gallery at 505 South Adams Street.
