PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola State College’s Jazz Ensemble performs a free concert 7:30 p.m. April 14 at the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.
Under the direction of Roger Villines, the 17-member ensemble will perform works by Count Basie, Sammy Nestico and Gordon Goodwin – plus perform Stan Kenton’s version of “Malaguena” that features French horns.
“We are once again very excited to feature historical and contemporary big band jazz at the Ashmore,” Villines says.
Villines and the ensemble recently performed at the 2011 Pensacola JazzFest and the 2010 Jazz Education Network’s annual conference in New Orleans.
