Shauna Cook-The Corsair Jan. 14 was a great defeat for the Lady Pirates taking the win against the #2 ranked team in the national rankings, Northwest Florida 71-61. Lady Pirates put their heart and souls into this game taking and maintaining the lead, never giving Northwest Florida an opportunity to catch up. Five of the Lady Pirates were double digit scorers; Darnisha Hamilton had 17 points, TeAndrea Smith had 16 points, Ronika Ransford had 13 points, Brandy Broome had 12 points, and Khadijah Ellison had 10 points. Overall record for the Lady Pirates is 15-2 and Conference record is 1-1. Defeating Northwest Florida also moved our Lady Pirates up in the rankings for State and National. Coming in #1 for the State rankings is our very own Pensacola State Lady Pirates, who are also ranked #4 in the National Rankings. Let’s hear it for our Lady Pirates!!!
