Hello Pirates! Summer is swimming up, and that comes with free time for shenanigans. To help plan for an eventful, memorable, spectacular summer, here is a list of events in the close and far local area with 2 events for every summer month.
The first event happening in April is Fried Green Friday 2; this event takes place at the HandleBar located on 319 N Tarragona St. Come and listen to music being hosted by CremRo with performances by the Panhandle Pirates and Beamin. This event starts at 7pm. The second event of April takes place on the 11th at the Five Flags Speedway on 7451 Pine Forest Dr. Get ready for the ASA Southern Super Series. The event is hosting local drivers, with more information available on their facebook page or at five-flags-speedway.com.
Color Me Mine Pottery Painting is on May 1st in Uptown Pensacola, 4771 Bayou Blvd, Suite 15. The pricing ranges from $8 per person which covers art fees. A median pricing of $21 for ceramic pieces, however, some have gone for $100+. The second event takes place on May 10th from 10 am to 2 pm. This event will be the Open House at the UWF Historic Trust. Other sites include the Pensacola Museum of Art, Pensacola Museum of History, Pensacola Children’s Museum, and Historic Pensacola Village. Admission is free, and live actors will share history and memorabilia from throughout history. Make sure to bring some cash, as local vendors and others will be in attendance.
To start June, the BtB Comedy Open Mic Night is held on Monday nights at Odd Colony Brewing Company. This event is located in Downtown Pensacola at 260 N. Palafox Street. Arrive early as sign-ups start at 6:30 pm and Mic starts at 7 pm. The second event of June is for those who love culture. On June 20th, Publix is sponsoring Gallery Night: Juneteenth “Art of Freedom.” This event will showcase around 70 art vendors at 13 Palafox Place. The two events in August are back to back. The first event happens is Rosie O’Grady’s Dueling Piano at 130 East Government Street. The show starts at 8pm and goes on till 12am, Thursday through Saturday. The show is usually 21 plus with it dropping to 18 plus every Thursday. The second event, starting on August 2nd, is Latin Night; this event takes place at Senor Frogs at 400 Quietwater Beach Road. This event takes place every Saturday and brings latin beats, food and more.
At the end of summer, there are two events for the month of September. The first event is Flora-Bama Bulls on the Beach, taking place September 4th through the 6th. It takes place at the Flora-Bama Lounge, Package and Oyster Bar at 17401 Perdido Key Dr. Buy your tickets early on the lounge website and know that a portion of the proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The second event of September takes place September 10th at the Frisky Mermaid, it’s called the Frisky Mermaid Dolphin Blue Angels Cruise. Enjoy a 3 hour tour taking in scenic views, wildlife and more.
