Have you ever wondered what has become of a PJC classmate? Are you curious about PJC’s past?
“PJC just launched an interactive online community for alumni, faculty, and staff,” said Kenda D. Hilleke, development coordinator for the PJC Alumni Association.
With the development of the new Web site, the alumni association hopes to find lost alumni and assist them in communicating with others.
The Web site, alumni.pjc.edu, contains many special features for both current students and alumni. Members may network with one another through personal pages, personal blogs, and e-mail.
“Since everything is web based nowadays the site gives alumni a place to go,” Sparkie Folkers, secretary and treasurer, said.
Alumni are listed by their graduating class, with separate sections for faculty, staff, and friends of the college.
“Class notes is a list of alum grouped by year and their recent events such as births, promotions, marriage, and moves,” Hilleke said.
Registered members include graduates from as far back as 1948.
Web site members also may use the site to find out about upcoming events.
“It’s a great place to keep in touch with former classmates, professors, current volunteer opportunities, and events,” Hilleke said.
Current students also can access the Web site where they can make secure donations and learn about other PJC giving programs.
The Web site, according to Hilleke, has gotten very positive feedback although the site hasn’t officially been launched. People are signing up mainly by word of mouth.
“I haven’t registered but it’s nice to know that there is a way to keep in touch with graduates,” Jessica Troe said.
Although the Web site is geared toward alumni, it is free and open to the public. Hilleke encourages everyone to register and explore the site.
