The Pensacola State Lady Pirates volleyball team swept Faulkner Sun Chiefs three sets to none at the Lou Ross Center Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Going into last Tuesday’s game with a 13-2 record, the Lady Pirates kept their composure and mentality to continue their winning streak as they inched closer to becoming the conference champions.
Megan Gorey, No. 14, began the game with more than six kills in the first set and led the Pirates to take the first set 25-16.
Jordan Cangleosi kept the Sun Chiefs on their toes in the second set when she fed them five consecutive serves, two being aces.
In the beginning of the third set, Faulkner put up a good fight and pulled ahead several times but they didn’t fight hard enough.
Lady Pirates finished the game with Sarah Guidry pounding seven kills, making the third set 25-18.
PSC added another win to their record, making it 14-1 so far this season.
“I know the tournaments coming up soon are going to be really intense, and it just builds our confidence,” shared a confident Gorey. “The better we do in this game, the better we believe we will do in the next one.”
Coach Chris Laird also felt confident the ladies will continue to play accordingly at the Pensacola State Challenge.
Tuesday, the Pirates face rivals Gulf Coast State College for their last home game to fight for the conference title.
