It was a big win for the Pirates against Gulf Coast Community College with a score of 77-72 on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The Pirates came with something to prove and did just that leaving their record 22-5 and 6-3 in conference.
The starting line-up for the Pirates was #5 Antoine “Fresh” Myers, #12 Jeff Mullahey, #32 Darren Goodson, #33 Tyree Smith, and #50 Milton Geddes. The starting line-up for the Commodores were #0 Terrence Townes, #5 Stephen Edwards, #13 Chad Frazier, #21 Alan Love, and #25 Roland Brown.
The Pirates proved they were the team to recognize on the court taking the lead the entire game without giving the Commodores a chance to catch up. By half-time, Pirates had a 10 point lead of 41-31.
Kent Langham was on fire racking up 10 points in the first half and Antoine Myers pulling in 9 points for the Pirates. For the Commodores, #13 Chad Frazier had a hot hand pulling in 17 points for his team.
In the second half, Pirates stayed on top never losing focus of what was important and that was winning. With 11 seconds left on the clock Commodore Zachary Reynolds fouled out.
The top scorers of the game for the Pirates was Antoine “Fresh” Myers with 19 points, Jeff Mullahey with 15 points,Tyree Smith with 12 points, and both Darren Goodson and Kent Langham with 10 points each. The top scorers for the Commodores were #13 Chad Frazier with 34 points and #0 Terrence Townes with 10 points.
The next game for the Pirates will be at home on Saturday, Feb.18 against Northwest Florida State College whose record is currently 24-1 overall and 9-1 in conference. The game will follow after the Lady Pirates whose tip off is at 5:30 p.m.
